Praveenkumar Velusamy
16+ years building exhibitions, events, and cultural projects across the UAE, from tender to teardown. Always chasing the next thing worth building.
Civil engineer turned project management strategist, with over 16 years leading multimillion-dirham exhibitions and events across the UAE.
Praveen began his career as a civil engineer on infrastructure and building sites in India and Qatar, before moving into exhibition and event delivery, a path that now spans commercial estimation, production, planning, and senior operations leadership for some of the region's best-known venues and cultural programs.
His approach is grounded in the discipline of engineering: tendering, supplier sourcing and negotiation, Bills of Quantities, 3D design in SketchUp and 3DS Max, and rigorous on-site management from installation through dismantling. He works closely with clients and authorities on permitting and compliance, reviews data and KPIs to catch issues early, and builds the stakeholder relationships that keep multimillion-dirham builds on schedule and on budget.
Fluent in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam, Praveen is based in Dubai and has been recognised by the UAE Prime Minister's Office and Careers UAE for outstanding contribution to major national events. He's currently open to new leadership opportunities.
Owning delivery from concept to close-out — timelines, budgets, and teams aligned to one plan.
Running the moving parts of a live build or event so nothing falls through the cracks.
Securing fair terms with suppliers and contractors without compromising the relationship.
Sourcing materials and services that hit the brief on cost, quality, and lead time.
Building a trusted network of vendors and contractors across the UAE and GCC.
Estimating accurately and tracking spend so projects land on target, every time.
Visualising concepts in 3D to align stakeholders before a single panel goes up.
Technical drawings and site plans grounded in a civil engineering background.
Every project starts with the brief taken apart and rebuilt as a plan: scope defined, costs estimated line by line, and a realistic Bill of Quantities and timeline drafted before a single commitment is made. This is where risk gets designed out early, not discovered on-site later.
With the plan set, the right suppliers and contractors get brought in — negotiated on price without compromising quality, vetted against past performance, and locked into contracts. Permits, work approvals, and compliance requirements are secured in parallel so nothing blocks the build later.
This is where the plan becomes physical: installation, production, and every moving part of the on-site operation running to spec and to schedule. Structures, graphics, AV, electrical, and furniture all come together under one point of accountability, with issues caught and resolved before they become delays.
Once delivered, the job isn't done until it's properly closed: clean dismantling, a reconciled budget against the original BOQ, and a clear record of what worked and what to do differently next time — so every project makes the next one sharper.

Recognized for building strong relationships with clients, government entities, cultural institutions, partners, and suppliers while driving projects to successful completion on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Planned and executed corporate events, including conferences, trade exhibitions, product launches, and client-appreciation events, from brief to delivery. Met with clients early to understand their goals, target audience, and brand, shaping each event plan around that vision rather than a standard template.
Built detailed event plans covering timetables, budgets, and resource allocation to keep delivery efficient and predictable, and coordinated on-site logistics, including setup, registration, signage, and personnel, so event day ran without surprises.
Led a cross-functional team of organisers and contractors, keeping every party aligned on deliverables and deadlines, and acted as the operational link between the scenic/production department and the wider event delivery team, managing multiple concurrent events without letting quality slip.
Analysed the stability and feasibility of exhibition and event designs before committing to a build approach, then developed complete working cost estimates for projects, from materials through to labour and logistics.
Negotiated directly with potential contractors to secure competitive, realistic pricing, and continuously reviewed the supplier market to track the best available material and service rates across a wide range of exhibition and event categories.
Balanced commercial pressure against delivery quality to protect the organisation's profit margins on every estimate, supporting faster, more confident go/no-go decisions on incoming projects and building a reputation for estimates that held up once a project moved into delivery.
Managed more than 40 exhibition and event projects worth over AED 30 million within a six-month period, owning each project end-to-end, from scoping and planning through to on-site delivery and close-out.
Delivered the Dubai Municipality Animal Feed project (AED 6 million); the Majlis and ADNEC setup covering IDEX 2017, Khalifa University, and Dubai Police HQ (~3,000 sqm, AED 8 million); the Car Free Day activation at Union Metro Park (AED 3.4 million, built in two days); Gulf Food 2017 stands for Signature & Snacks, Cakers, and Teksut (AED 4.7 million); Dubai Municipality's "Is Your Home Safe" campaign across 25 locations; and the Sharjah Institute for Heritage interior setup.
Ensured projects were completed on time and within budget, with objectives clearly met at handover, keeping every contributor accountable to their part of the plan so nothing depended on last-minute recovery.
Balanced resourcing decisions to use the most efficient combination of people, suppliers, and materials, and managed competing stakeholder interests (client, supplier, and internal teams) without letting any one side derail delivery.
